On the matter of my move to Brooklyn: The barbershop

Indeed, faithful readers, I have just spent my first week as a resident of Brooklyn.  A few notes: The barbershop on 63rd and Bay Parkway seems like a relic of the 50’s.  The old man who cut my hair had great difficulty in straightening my sideburns.  In the thirty-six minutes it took him to cut my hair, I noticed a good deal of barbershop minutia.  For instance, that blue jar of liquid (a fixture in barbershops) is actually barbicide.  I also noticed that my new barber’s license has a photograph that is so old, it might have been a rare relic from the times of the last supper (when photographs didn’t even exist!).  Interestingly, the combined age of the barbers who work there is 834 years!  Well, that last bit was a lie, but these guys are getting up there.
